SERFs

SERFs for minimal gap situations

SERFs are well-known for their ability to bridge gaps between surfaces. But what happens when there’s little to no gap? In limited-gap situations—where the two surfaces are typically in direct contact, such as a carpet or mat attached to a smooth floor—SERFs can still provide an effective solution.

SERFs for carpets and mats

Attaching a SERF to a carpet offers several advantages:

  • Prevents slippage: Keeps the carpet securely in place during use
  • Ease of removal: Allows the carpet to be removed for cleaning or to access panels beneath it

However, adding a SERF to a carpet introduces the challenge of bulk. Excess thickness can create visible or tactile disruptions where the fastener is applied.

Binder’s low-profile Duotec® solutions

Binder’s Duotec® product family includes SERF variants with a total engaged thickness of less than 3 mm. These low-profile fasteners provide key benefits:

  • Discreet appearance: Minimum thickness ensures the fastener remains nearly invisible
  • Secure retention: Confidently holds surfaces in place without compromising aesthetics or function
