TUFFs

Interactions of TUFFs with nonwoven fabrics

Nonwoven fabrics include a broad spectrum of forming methods and compositions to achieve the desired technical and aesthetic specifications. When these fabrics are to perform mechanical engagement with a corresponding fastener or closure tape, the design of the engagement elements on the contact surface of the tape is critical.

There are multiple methods for altering engagement element profiles to tune the performance relative to the desired nonwoven fabric. These methods involve understanding the forces that are applied to the engagement elements, the interaction of the engagement with the fibrous engagement surface, and the effect of having one or more fibres/filaments contacting the engagement element.
